Finvi Privacy Policy
Finvi (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a savings-first budget and expense planner mobile application (“App”) with an optional AI financial advisor. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Finvi.
1. Summary
- Your budgets, income, expenses, goals, and profile are stored locally on your device in an on-device database.
- We do not operate a Finvi cloud database that stores your full financial ledger.
- Optional Google Drive backup stores backup files in your own Google account (app data area).
- Finvi Advisor chat messages you send are transmitted to our AI service to generate replies; advisor chat is cleared on each fresh app launch by default.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information the App Processes
Depending on how you use Finvi, the App may process:
- Financial data you enter — salary, fixed commitments, monthly income and expenses, savings goals, categories, currency, and related notes.
- Profile and onboarding answers — display name, preferences, and setup choices stored on your device.
- Advisor messages — questions and AI replies while you use Finvi Advisor (sent to our API for processing).
- App preferences — theme, language, reminder times, and similar settings on your device.
- Approximate location hints — country/region may be inferred from your IP address once (or when you change networks) to suggest currency and language; we do not continuously track GPS location.
- Device and app identifiers — a device-scoped identifier used to organize optional Google Drive backups. This is not a public social profile.
- Notification data — if you enable expense reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device.
- Google account information — only if you connect Google Drive backup (e.g. email and tokens for Drive app data access).
3. How We Use Information
We use information only to:
- Provide budgeting, tracking, and savings features on your device;
- Generate Finvi Advisor responses you request;
- Deliver optional daily tips or emoji suggestions related to categories;
- Schedule expense reminders you configure;
- Back up or restore your database to your Google Drive when you enable that feature;
- Maintain app stability, security, and abuse prevention on our API.
We do not use your financial data for advertising profiling.
4. Where Data Is Stored
- On your device: Your financial records and settings are stored in local app storage (SQLite database and related files).
- AI service: Advisor requests (and limited context such as a financial snapshot you have in the app) are sent to our hosted AI API to produce replies. We do not use this to build a permanent cloud copy of your full ledger unless required for security, legal compliance, or short-lived operational logs.
- In your Google Drive (optional): If you connect Drive backup, backup files are stored in the Google Drive app data area for the Google account you select.
5. Third-Party Services
Finvi may rely on third-party services when you use certain features:
- Google Sign-In / Google Drive — optional backup and restore. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- AI providers — Finvi Advisor routes requests through our API, which may use third-party AI models to generate text. Only the data needed for your request is sent.
- Apple / Google platform services — app distribution, notifications, and account authorization.
We do not control third-party services and encourage you to review their policies.
6. Permissions
The App may request permissions such as:
- Notifications — for expense logging reminders you set;
- Internet access — for Finvi Advisor, optional tips, category emoji suggestions, geo hints, and optional Google Drive backup;
- Google account access — only when you connect Drive backup.
You can revoke permissions in device settings. Some features may stop working if permissions are disabled.
7. Data Retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, or restore from backup.
- Advisor chat on device is cleared on each cold app start by design; backup files may still contain advisor tables if present at backup time.
- Drive backup files remain in your Google account until you delete them or disconnect backup.
- Server logs for API security may be retained for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
8. Your Choices
- Use Finvi without Google Drive backup;
- Disconnect Google Drive in App settings;
- Delete data by clearing months/expenses or uninstalling the App;
- Disable notifications in device settings;
- Stop using Finvi Advisor if you do not want questions sent to the AI service.
9. Children’s Privacy
Finvi is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will help you remove local data by uninstalling the App and deleting any connected backups.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a local-first app, including protected on-device storage, encrypted API communication (HTTPS), and API authentication. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
11. International Users
If you use Finvi Advisor or optional Google Drive backup, data may be processed on servers or infrastructure outside your country, in accordance with applicable law and provider policies. Local financial data stays on your device unless you enable backup or use online features.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
