MindPen Privacy Policy
MindPen (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a visual action planner mobile application (“App”) that helps you organize plans, branches, tasks, follow-ups, and notes. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use MindPen.
1. Summary
- MindPen stores your planner data locally on your device.
- We do not operate a MindPen login server or cloud database for your plans.
- Optional Google Drive backup stores encrypted backup files in your own Google account.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information the App Processes
Depending on how you use MindPen, the App may process:
- Planner content you create — plan titles, branch names, tasks, notes, due dates, reminders, emojis, colors, layout positions, and progress data.
- App preferences — such as theme and language settings stored on your device.
- Device and app identifiers — a device-scoped identifier used only to organize optional backup files in Google Drive. This is not a public profile or social account.
- Notification data — if you enable reminders, the App schedules local notifications for follow-ups you create.
- Google account information — only if you choose to connect Google Drive backup, such as your Google email address and authorization tokens needed to access your Drive app data folder.
3. How We Use Information
We use information only to:
- Provide core planner features on your device;
- Save and restore your data locally;
- Schedule follow-up reminders you request;
- Back up or restore your database to your Google Drive when you enable that feature;
- Maintain app stability and security.
We do not use your planner content for advertising profiling.
4. Where Data Is Stored
- On your device: Your plans and settings are stored in local app storage (SQLite database and related app files).
- In your Google Drive (optional): If you connect Drive backup, backup files are stored in the Google Drive app data area associated with the Google account you select. We do not receive a separate copy on our servers.
5. Third-Party Services
MindPen may rely on third-party services when you use certain features:
- Google Sign-In / Google Drive — for optional backup and restore. Google’s handling of data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple / Google platform services — for notifications, account authorization, and app distribution.
We do not control third-party services and encourage you to review their policies.
6. Permissions
The App may request permissions such as:
- Notifications — to remind you about follow-ups you schedule;
- Internet access — only needed for optional Google Drive backup;
- Google account access — only when you connect Drive backup.
You can revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features may stop working if permissions are disabled.
7. Data Retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, or use in-app delete/restore actions.
- Drive backup files remain in your Google account until you delete them or disconnect backup.
- We do not retain your planner content on MindPen-operated servers because we do not operate such servers for core app data.
8. Your Choices
- Use MindPen without connecting Google Drive;
- Disconnect Google Drive backup in App settings;
- Delete plans, branches, or the App from your device;
- Delete backup files from your Google Drive account;
- Disable notifications in device settings.
9. Children’s Privacy
MindPen is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will help you remove local data by uninstalling the App and deleting any connected backups.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a local-first app, including storing data in the App’s protected storage area and using platform security features. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Users
If you use optional Google Drive backup, your backup data may be processed by Google in accordance with Google’s policies and infrastructure. Local app data stays on your device.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
